    University of Aberdeen

    The University of Aberdeen invites high school graduates to join its academic community university in Scotland. The college was founded as early as 1495, making it the third oldest in Scotland and fifth in the whole of Great Britain. With a rich heritage and modern perspective, the university offers students more than 300 undergraduate degrees and over 150 postgraduate degrees in the arts, sciences, and engineering. its current shape is the result of the merger of two colleges in 1860: King’s College and Marischal College.

    The research priority at the University of Aberdeen is medicine and healthcare. The region where the university is located can thus boast the highest concentration of scientists in Europe, who are engaged in health and natural sciences.

    In 2002, the new Institute of Medical Sciences was opened, and four years later, the new Health Sciences building was put into use. In 2009, the Suttie Centre for Teaching & Learning in Healthcare was opened. It is a training facility worth £20 million.

    The university has also provided students with a new library building and a sports complex with an Olympic-standard swimming pool.

    Currently, around 14,000 students are enrolled at the University of Aberdeen. Among the distinguished alumni of the university are former Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling, former Cabinet Minister Tessa Jowell, two judges of the Scottish Supreme Court, and several university vice-chancellors.

      Depending on the chosen program, the admission requirements for undergraduate studies in the UK at the University of Aberdeen may vary:

      • Art and Social Sciences – a general score of at least 60%, including at least two written subjects at the higher level.
      • Science subjects – a general score of at least 75%, including at least two written subjects at the higher level.
      • Engineering and Technology – a general score of at least 75%, including Mathematics and Physics at the higher level.
      • Law – a general score of at least 80%, including at least two written subjects at the higher level.
      • For Medicine – detailed requirements can be found on the university’s website under the Medicine section.

      To be admitted to your chosen course at Aberdeen University, you must demonstrate a proficiency in English at the following level (optional):

      • IELTS certificate at the level of 6.0 points, with not less than 6.0 points in writing and not less than 5.5 points in the remaining parts of the test.

      General Admission Requirements for Aberdeen University Master’s Degree Programs:

      • completion of bachelor’s/engineering studies (title obtained after 2006) or master’s studies (title obtained before 2006) with a grade of 4.5 or higher,

      AWARDS AND IMPORTANT FACTS

      The University of Aberdeen was recognized as the Scottish University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019.

      The first women were admitted to Aberdeen University in 1894, and four of them graduated with a degree in art in 1898. By 1899, women made up a quarter of its faculty.

      Undergraduate students are guaranteed residency at the University of Aberdeen or one of its partners as long as they apply by the deadline.

      The majority of accommodation options are within a short walking distance from the main campus, with a wide choice of residences in the Hillhead student village and on the Kings College campus and near the city center. Students can browse and apply for accommodation directly through the university’s website and get to know their roommates before arriving.

      Free buses often operate between the Kings College and Foresterhill campuses. Additional buses serve the city center, the train station, and the airport. Additionally, there is a train departing every hour to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London. Detailed information can be found on the university’s website.

      Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan hub of the energy industry, with cafes, bars, and restaurants, exciting nightlife, and plenty of attractions. The city is also an excellent base for traveling to the Highlands, the northern coast, and other Scottish cities.
