However, you will be obligated to bear several other fees associated with, among other things, with:

    • issuing a student visa (£348),
    • immigration health surcharge (£470 per year for the entire duration of studies),
    • daily life on the islands, as students will lose the ability to apply for maintenance grants.

As you can see, there are quite a few costs you will have to deal with, so it is worth considering participating in the last recruitment under the current rules. What are pre-settled and settled statuses?

One way to secure funding for your studies even after Brexit is to apply for pre-settled or settled status. The type of status depends on how long you have lived in the UK – a period of over 5 years entitles you to obtain settled status. If you want to live on the islands and enjoy full rights as British citizens, including access to government student loans, you must apply for pre-settled status as soon as possible! It is enough to have lived in the UK for at least one day in the last 6 months before the application. The game is worth the candle because then you have full freedom to travel to England under the old rules, access to services from the National Health Service (NHS), and you can enjoy other existing benefits on par with native islanders.
